August 9, 2010: Updates to software version X.12 for all sports

  • All Sports: Updates are posted to add the latest NCAA team code changes.
    Reminder to use your X.12 serial number to access the updates at our website. Click STAT CREW SOFTWARE Updates to access the updates, or use the "Updates" button on your Stat Crew Control Panel.

    Note for customers running versions X.11: There is now an update for all sports, to require license for "copy to" XML. If you are using the copy-to option for XML, you will be required to purchase upgrade. HTML still works without license activation.

     

    • July 27, 2010: Updates to software versions X.11 and X.12
    We've made some updates to the X.12 software already! Thanks to those of you who made suggestions during ECAC-SIDA, CoSIDA or by email and calls this summer!

  • Baseball Season Reports: Add "reach base streaks" category to the Miscellaneous statistics report (style and Html format), and added height and weight to Cumes | roster Report for XML and tab-stops output.
  • Basketball: expand the Career Individual Year-by-Year Leaders Report, to allow more than 10 players. Also made a couple of fixes to display of version number, display of "Other Metrics" report.
    Football Career Reports: Improve critieria for display of "No other statistics" line in individual career summary.
  • Soccer: Adjust font in Game Results report to accommodate Verdana font, and correct display of shot totals in Career Summaries for player with 0 shots in a year.

    April 29, 2010: What about Windows 7 and Stat Crew Software?

    We have been receiving inquiries about our software and the Windows 7 operating system. Here is what we know about Windows 7:

    There are several versions of Windows 7, and each version can be installed as 32-bit or 64-bit (see these Microsoft links for details on each product):

  • Home Premium
  • Professional
  • Ultimate


    • If a computer is already setup with the Windows 7 64-bit version, there are downloads available from Microsoft (no additional charge) that will enable the computer to run Virtual PC, and then run in “XP Mode”. Note these downloads are only available for the Professional and Ultimate products (not Home Premium 64-bit)

    The Microsoft website has compatibility testing tools and links to the required downloads.

    In addition to the downloads, the computer processor must support "hardware virtualization" (this allows you to use hardware such as printers, etc., while in the "XP mode")

    The computer vendor (Dell, HP, etc) may also be able to identify which of their computers have processors that support hardware virtualization.

    Regarding Windows 7 Home Premium, which does not support "XP mode", there is some information on the internet about a way to run 16-bit applications on 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium, by downloading Virtual Box.

    With VirtualBox you dual boot into any version of Windows that you may have, as long as you have a copy of the OS to install. If you have 32-bit Windows XP professional and installed it through VirtualBox you should be able to run statcrew on 64-bit machine as long as you boot Windows XP through Virtual Box.

    For Vista 64-bit, there is information on the Microsoft site about Virtual PC 2007 which runs the Virtual PC mode for Vista 64-bit operating systems.

    If the computer is setup with the 32-bit version of Windows 7, this should run our software properly.

    Though we do not currently have a version of our software that will run on the native 64-bit operating system, many customers are successfully running the Virtual PC option available in Windows 7, or are running the 32-bit version of Windows 7.

    We recommend that our customers contact their technical suppport folks for assistance with any downloads, or modifications to their computers.

    April 22, 2010: Update to Lacrosse, Baseball/Softball, Tennis
    • Lacrosse Career Reports: Improve display of shots/sog in career summary report when player has shots/sog in one year but not in others.
    • Baseball/Softball Season reports: Fix to display of extraneous characters for "inactive" players in Miscellaneous stats report
    • Tennis Season reports: Add page break if needed in Season Statistics report for a larger volume of singles/doubles/results

    March 26, 2010: Update to Career All-Time Results report for basketball, baseball/softball, football, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse, ice hockey
    • Career all-time results: Accomodate display in historical reports for results when W-L-T is known, but final score is unknown; in own-score/opp-score fields enter "99-0" for a win, "0-99" for a loss, and "99-99" for a tie. Then ownscore/oppscore will display a "blank" value in the "Score" column in all-time results reports and html.

    March 12, 2010: Update to basketball game Xml
    • Basketball Game Xml: Use neutralgame="H" to indicate treating as home game for the vistior team and vice versa (designed for tournament venues)
    Note to scoring crew: there is no change to the scoring procedure--still enter "A" in site code field (blue screen), to treat this as home game for visitors and vice versa

    • Baseball Season Reports: Display "-" for "NORESULT" in Results/Schedule report

    February 12, 2010: New Basketball Career Game High's capture!
    • Basketball Career Reports: Beta release of individual player career single-game highs functions:
      • Entries automatically built by Capture | Capture game records function (use this to build up the database from prior or current seasons)
      • Or select Edit | Edit single-player game highs to manually enter historical data
      • Select Reports | Individual single-game highs to generate a report for players
      • Enable the Settings | Records report settings | "Show game highs in individual career summaries" option to include on individual summary hardcopy reports and Html ('style' mode)

    • Basketball Conference Reports: Correct for season statistics from games delivered via 'BXP' file transmitted by school instead of 'BPK'

    November 24, 2009: Updates to football, basketball, volleyball programs have been posted:
    • Football Game Reports: Add "Touchdowns" and "Field goals" breakouts under Redzone Scores-Chances listing in Team statistics report
    • Basketball Career Html: Fix to typo in generating "histseas.htm" (was incorrectly generating a file "histsess.htm")
    • Volleyball Season Reports: Display match-by-match reports at 7 lines-per-inch to avoid truncation at bottom for seasons with 40+ matches)

    November 13, 2009: Update to the football game XML has been posted:
    • Football Game Xml: Force <drivesum> to say complete="Y" at end of game or after drive "ended how" is known (instead of waiting for ensuing kickoff).

    November 12, 2009: Updates are posted for football Game Viewer tool, and for ice hockey reports:
    • Football Game Viewer: For version 4.11, fix to display of career TFL and sack totals for selected player, and to display of team total sacks (download the update for Game Viewer fbview11.exe).
    • Ice Hockey Game Reports: Improve behavior of the "show blocks" option, and improve display of goalie minutes when using Verdana font, other cosmetic changes.

    November 6, 2009: Updates are posted for football live game Xml, and for ice hockey conference software:
    • Football Live game Xml: Add "Retries after copy failure" option to Copy file settings section on Live setup window. This is intended to mitigate occasional copy file failures due to contention from game viewers attempting to access the ".xml" file.
    • Ice Hockey Conference reports: Fix to SH-goals columns in Html output for team PP-Pct and team Pen-kill-Pct categories

    October 27, 2009: A change to the TAS Volleyball game XML output has been implemented:
    • Volleyball Game Xml: Add <oncourtlist> tag to display a list of players that are currently on the court Sample output

    October 26, 2009: New "other metrics" report has been added to basketball program, and there are a couple of updates to the football program:
    • Basketball Season Reports: Add Stats | Other Metrics report to display various "statistical metrics" for the team and individuals. Also correct to display of Double-doubles report
    • Football Game scoring: Prompt for game save after selecting Game Wrapup function
    • Football Season Reports: In the Comparison Game-by-Game report, display negative sign for time of possession margin less than one minute

    October 22, 2009: Updates are posted for conference software in football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, ice hockey, and one additional update for football team software:
    • Conference Standings Report: Add Conference | Ineligible teams function to specify teams ineligible for standings (list at bottom with indicator)
    • Football Game Xml: Show "failure" message at bottom of Game Reports screen (status bar) if "Copy to" function in live stats fails

    October 16, 2009: Updates for basketball, soccer, lacrosse, volleyball software are posted:
    • Basketball Game Xml: Add <statsbyprd> tag to hold 1st half and 2nd half statistics for individual players; use the Game Viewer download to access this new data
    • Soccer and Lacrosse Season Reports: Increase width of "Date" column in results section of Combined stats report in 'style' mode to avoid truncation
    • Volleyball Season Reports: Display Double-doubles report when not in style mode, and increase width of "Date" column in results section of Combined stats report in 'style' mode to avoid truncation
    • Volleyball Career Reports: Say "sets" instead of "games" in individual/team match records reports

    • Game scoring: Improve "normalized" name display for 3-part names like "Kevin D. Cox" and "T.J. Rogers" in comfile (stats display and scoreboard)

    October 3, 2009: Update for football (v4.11.12) software is posted:
    • Game scoring: Calculate red zone attempts from the 20-yardline instead of the 19-yardline to comply with Ncaa statisticians guidelines (unless Rule control | Fumble as Ncaa = "N")

    October 1, 2009: Several updates have been made to TAS Soccer/Field Hockey v1.11
    • Game scoring (field hockey mode): On a defensive save credit a team totals save (to uniform "TM") in addition to posting a defensive save statistic to the individual player -- to affect team total saves and save percentage
    • Game reports: Allow maximum 6-characters for team code in Reports | Xml output parameters, and add "Show list of NCAA team codes" button to Game Reports | Xml output -- to display reference list of NCAA team codes
    • Game Html (field hockey mode): Fix to "Player Cards" typo in Html box score
    • Season reports: Show "gp-gs" for goalies in Extended statistics report
    • Game reports: Adjust column widths in box score to accommodate clock times over 100 minutes

    August 17, 2009: Our customers have been asking for a way to get the latest information about software updates. So, we're implementing a couple of options for news feeds:
    • Subscribe to this news feed. Click the subscribe button above to add us to your news reader. You'll receive general information about changes to the software, and other timely information about scoring, etc. This feed is available to anyone finding this feed or viewing the website.
    • For viewers runnning the current versions (X.11 released since June 2009), subscribe to a feed for a specific sport--input your X.11 serial number at the software updates page, and then click the subscribe button on that page. NOTE this is for current software only.

    August 10, 2009: Here are some reminders about live stats, and the upcoming fall seasons:
    • The XML option for "live" stats requires the current version of the software (current version is X.11)
    • HTML option for "live" stats does not require upgrade purchase
    • TASFTP software has not changed--make sure you have the most recent 3.9 version of TASFTP.
    • Order the upgrade online and you can download the software immediately.
    • Access the complete software download from anywhere, anytime.

    July 29, 2009: Updates are posted in the career reports area for basketball, football, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse, ice hockey, to improve filters for "Team" player in season/career records reports and names list

    July 27, 2009: Various updates were posted in the last week including:
      For Baseball/Softball:
    • Conference reports: Add "Last 10" and "Streak" to Standings report (not available in 'StatEdit' mode)
    • Updated NCAA team codes
    • In-game scoring: Add "OB" keyword for "obstruction" -- treated the same as the "INT" keyword for "interference" but clarifies the narrative text
    • In-game scoring: Add "AP" keyword for appeal plays. For example, if you enter "F813 DP AP" the text "on appeal" will appear in the play-by-play, and only the pitcher will be credited with an assist.
    • Season reports: Fix to abort in Standings report when a manual entry forfeit game is processed ...

    • NCAA Team Codes (RPI) are now updated
    • Career Reports now include capture of all-time results national rankings

    June 23, 2009: After attending the CoSiDA Workshop in San Antonio, TX we added the following:
  • Updates for tennis and golf to "normalize" player name spellings during the import process
  • Golf also has a tweak to show "dq" in the box score for disqualified rounds instead of a dash "-"
  • Update soccer and lacrosse to support automated entry of season-to-date goals during in-game scoring (also assists in lacrosse)

    June 1, 2009: After attending the ECAC Workshop in Avalon, NJ we made the following software changes/additions:
    • Add button on the control panel for each sport to access the user guide pdf (in addition to the Start menu)
    • Fix for volleyball career "by game/set" minimums
    • Add Games Started GS to individual summary in career stats
    • Add Settings | Venue settings menu item for quick access to these options in Season Reports for team software
    • Fix to v4.11 football game viewer getting confused on career stats "extended" names
    • Add tracking of conference W-L in tennis career reports
    • Add WHIP and OPS metrics to baseball
